5/29/24 @3:38 pm Memorial Storm Update

We are under 1,000 outages! 940 members are currently without service. The majority of the outages in Wheaton and Jenkins have been cleared. Several single-phase poles have been changed out. Work has been done in the Seligman area, Sunset Heights, Fox Ridge and Sherwood Forrest subdivisions in Cassville. The Crystal Oaks subdivision in Cassville is back online.

We will remind our members yet again to stay away from the downed power lines. As more and more power is restored, lines that were once un-energized may be energized now and are dangerous to touch.

5/29/24 @ 4:20 am Memorial Storm Update

This morning, we are down to 2,554 outages. We completed the last three-phase pole change in the late hours last night. We also had tree trimming crews working hard in and around Cassville yesterday helping to clear trees so that linemen can get into those areas over the coming days. We appreciate their efforts to help our crews and members!

We want to continue to caution members to stay away from downed power and fiber lines. Our linemen never trust a down line to be un-energized, and you should not either. Safety is our utmost priority. Trees on fiber lines pose a threat as well, as the fiber does not break as easily. This creates a situation where the tree puts a tremendous amount of stress on the fiber. Please allow our crews to remove the trees that are on or around electric and fiber lines. Improper tree removal is a risk that we don’t want our members to take.

5/28/24 @ 3:27 pm Memorial Storm Update

We are making great process today with the 77 line-workers we currently have out in the field. The estimated number of members out of power is 3,408. There is still work to be completed on three-phase lines and pole change outs that is going on today and hopefully will be wrapped up tomorrow. Those poles take 2-3 hours each to change. Once those poles have been changed out, crews will move to single phase lines. We do not have a timeline for individuals with line damage to their homes.

Fiber Update we were able to get to make some repairs today that restored most of the outage created from the cut mainline last night. Once electric is back up and repaired we will begin trouble shooting individual fiber outages.

5/28/24 @ 5:00 am Memorial Storm Update

As daylight returns today, our crews will be out to continue to make progress into all affected areas. Many in our community are weary from the aftermath of the devastating storms, including our employees. As we move into Day 3 of restoration efforts, we appreciate the continued support and understanding from our membership.

We anticipate a successful day ahead! We are thankful for local churches that have volunteered to provide food for our employees today so we can continue to focus on our efforts!

5/27/24 @ 10:10 pm Memorial Storm Update

While we still have many members without power, we have made great progress today in our restoration process. Our outage management system currently indicates 3,691 members are without power.  Our office lobby will remain closed Tuesday, May 28th so that we may continue to focus on electric restoration.

In addition to the power outages, we’ve encountered a fiber main line cut, resulting in internet outages for some members. We urge everyone to exercise caution when clearing debris. Our fiber crews are scheduled to commence repairs first thing tomorrow morning.

Thank you for your patience and understanding during this time.

5/27/24 @ 3:30 pm Memorial Storm Update

Our outage management system currently indicates that 5,100 plus members are without power. We’ve identified at least 50 broken poles that we’ve been able to access. Our hardest hit areas are Cassville and Exeter. We are grateful to the neighboring co-ops who have generously provided mutual aid, and for our contractors who are actively assisting with recovery.

This storm ranks among the worst we’ve experienced in years. Our primary challenge lies in clearing large trees that block access to power lines requiring repair. Additionally, numerous broken poles must be replaced.

Here are a few things to keep in mind:

  • Power-line Safety: PLEASE CONTINUE TO USE CAUTION AROUND DOWNED POWER LINES.

  • 24/7 Emergency Assistance: Our phone lines remain open around the clock for emergencies, and our mobile app and customer portal allows you to report outages instantly.

  • Social Media Monitoring: We are monitoring social media, although we may not be able to respond to each individual message. When sending us a message on Facebook, please include the name and address associated with your account, along with a brief explanation of the emergency. This will help us assist you more effectively.

  • Emergency Reporting: Please reserve phone lines and social media channels for emergency reporting only.

  • Restoration Time-frames: Given the scale of the outage, we cannot provide individual restoration time-frames. The worst-case scenario could extend outages out seven to ten days for some. For updates, refer to our website and Facebook page.

  • Fiber Outages: Currently, we are prioritizing electric outages over fiber outages.

We appreciate your patience and understanding during this critical recovery period. Rest assured, our dedicated team is working tirelessly to restore power as swiftly and safely as possible.

5/26/24 @ 11:15 am Memorial Storm Update

We currently have 6,793 members without power. We have our contractor, Kiowa Line Builders, providing 3 crews to help. We also have a crew from Ozark Electric Cooperative who has come to help. All of our crews are out and our office employees are available on the phones. As a reminder, you can also report your outage using our app or website if the phones lines are busy. Thank you again for your patience.

PLEASE STAY AWAY FROM TREES AND DOWNED POWER LINES AS IT IS A DANGEROUS SITUATION.

Inital Memorial Storm Update 5/26/24

Currently, Barry Electric is experiencing a large amount of outages. All crews are dispatched and we are assessing the damage across our area as the sun comes up.

Please STAY AWAY from any low or downed power lines, as they are extremely dangerous.

We will update as we are able to assess the damage.

Thank you for your patience as our crews are working across our system.
