GIS Technician

Barry Electric Cooperative is seeking a skilled GIS Technician to support the accuracy and integrity of our electric and fiber system data. This full-time position involves maintaining GIS models, administering GIS and OMS software, managing databases, and producing maps and data visualizations.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain and update GIS models for electric and fiber systems.
• Administer GIS and OMS software, ensuring data integrity.
• Design and produce maps and reports for internal use.
• Manage historical and engineering reference materials.
• Collaborate with internal teams and external vendors.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will:
• Have a two-year technical degree in information systems or related field (or equivalent experience).
• Have proficiency in ArcGIS tools (ArcGIS Server, ArcGIS Pro, ArcMap, ArcCatalog).
• Have database management experience (Microsoft SQL Server, PostgreSQL).
• Possess strong communication skills and the ability to follow directions from supervisors effectively.

Additional Details

Being familiar with SQL reporting and Python scripting is preferred along with a knowledge of remote sensing and GPS technology.
